Good catching up with you today Mike. I'll make that date next year for the wedding. We'll see if we can get Dave completely out of the woods for good. Or, we'll start to call him monkey boy or something. Tomorrow I'll be heading to Stockton, CA, for 7 days on Aramark stuff. On the 26th I'll be heading to Yosemite. Night world.

Snakes On a Dock? Possibly another movie title?
So today ended Ronnie's problem at his sail club dock...for now. On Tuesday, after we finished up sailing around Fort Phantom, Ronnie was trying to show me the dock joints that needed to be welded back together when i noticed a shiny snake-like body that was indeed a snake. I was calm about telling Ronnie, not wanting to startle him or the big fella below the boards. Well Ronnie didn't take the calm announcement as planned. He did an extremely fast push up from the dock to get away from the snake with a spasm.
After the snake got away Tuesday, we revisited his little home under the dock on Wednesday.
So today ended Ronnie's problem at With a close shot from Ronnie's gun, the snake took off for the water
and we went searching for an hour until he came back to his resting spot. Next we tried to pin him with a steel rod. He attacked the rod and eventually got away again. Well tonight I went up there early to see if he was back. The first crack between the boards...I saw his head, sitting and cooling off under the dock. When Ronnie came, he brought a nice large sharp piece of metal to chop the snake's head off. The big guy put up a good fight, bleeding all over the place until his head & body were separated. Well that head that I had seen earlier...well it wasn't the one that had just got chopped off. There was another one down there under the dock. The metal weapon Ronnie brought would barely fit in between the boards, so he decided to use some excessive force.
A 40 pound rock should do the trick. As he dropped the rock on the metal at our estimated place, it broke the wooded handle on the metal. We thought it was a big miss, but turned out to be a dead-on hit, breaking the snake in two at the neck. It turned out that the first killed snake was a mother. It had birthed a baby snake right with the blow to its neck. After Ronnie brought the dead snakes up on top of the dock, I shook two more baby killers from the snake. Jayden was enjoying poking the snakes, making them squirm. This was a first for me, delivering a baby...more of a plus, delivering a baby of a dead headless snake(probably the last too). Here are some pictures of the mess.

Here's to any type of travel
The week is going by pretty well. Plans were put in today for my business venture out in California. I'll be out of Abilene from August 20th-27th in the city of Stockton. Coming back on Sunday allows me an extra day to go where I want. Yosemite will most likely be the choice of place to visit on that Saturday. Seeing it one time definitely wasn't enough. This time I will have the digital camera tied around my neck for tons of good pictures. When Matt & I were there years ago, digital cameras weren't too widespread, so the 35mm pieces were used. Despite California's terrible reputation as a state, their parks make up for it.Here are some pictures I took last night. I didn't get my camera back outside in time to get the best part of the sunset, but it's
still awesome just the same. The pictures of the bird...well there was a bird just sitting on a fence post next to where I pulled off on the side of the road. He didn't move the entire time. The hype is gone
Returned to work on Monday from a super long & unforgettable week. The night before heading back to this TX town, my aunt had a nice family get-together. It had been years since riding a 4-wheeler out in Grand-Dad's 14 billion acres, so it was a good last night in NC with friends & family...slinging up grass, mud, and large cow patties. There are tons more to read explaining what has happened also.

Matthew Cress
Dear all,
This is Adam Cress, brother of late Matthew Franklin Cress. This isn't the best way of communicating to people on MySpace or online since it's not as personal as i would like to say, but for a lot of you, this is the only way you may hear for those that knew my brother. This is no attempt to explain the complexity of what has happened over the course of the past 9 years, only to explain my wonderful brother, Matt.
For short, my brother, 27 years old, was a cancer survivor. He struggled with cancer but got through it clean and free from its grasp. Over the years, the side effects of getting past chemotherapy & the mental stress he has had for the reasoning of actually getting cancer has really played a game in his mind for the past 7 years. This last action of his was not a spontaneous action of his. The battle my brother had with suicide was a tough thing that I could never understand & will never understand until I get to ask him myself. I didn't understand a lot about what he had gone through until the past 2 days. He wasn't that open to his struggles with me even though I would've been there at any time. The bottom line is that Matt couldn't overcome his pain, his stress over something we will not understand in this life. If you did not know Matthew, then i am sorry you didn't get to know him. His determination to defeat something he did not have control over for more than 6 years is the most inspiring thing I have ever had the chance to witness, even from the distance he wanted everyone to be at. Only the ones that were at the hospital(unless you couldn't make it) & the ones that know the intimate details of his actions towards the ones that knew the most will know how much he loved everyone and tried to avoid what took place. Through every hardship Matthew had that I hope no one will ever have to experience, at the end, he STILL thought of others and making the end result an ease on us. He thought of us in every aspect through his actions for his end on this earth. Through it all, Matt would want you to know that he was going to glorify Christ in everything that he did. I believe he did this. Thank you to all who came to show your support through this all...at the hospital, the accomodations, the food, the help with the arrangements, and especially the love for Matt and our family. It is truely appreciated. Matt is not in pain anymore.
There will be a funeral ceremony for Matthew on Wednesday, July 12th, at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Salisbury, NC. The viewing will be at 10AM & a celebration of his life will be at 11AM, followed by the burial at Mt. Zion ground in China Grove/Landis. All are welcome to attend. Also, a loving memorial will be held at his church in Durham, NC, Church of the Good Sherperd on Thursday the 13th at 6:30pm. If anything changes as far as times/location/dates, check the newspapers in Salisbury, Charlotte, Durham, Kannapolis, Landis, and Concord. I know through Matt's struggle and victory over cancer & his 7 years after were seen by many...in Rowan County, and in Durham-Chapel Hill. Matt will be missed.

Worst day
Short notice, but I'm heading to NC tomorrow morning until whenever for a family emergency.
Flying time
It was definitely nice to have a break from work yesterday...hung out with good ol' Dave & his family in Dallas. So who decided to actually put a city out here in the middle of nowhere is what I want to know. I made the drive twice this week from Abilene to Dallas & back, not fun. Each side of the road, just a bunch of nothing. As of two days ago, I've been working here 6 months. Here's to another quick 6 months. Later.
